Incorrect URL slashes causes error with Internet Explorer

why incorrect URL slash direction prevents access to the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Web server through Microsoft® Internet® Explorer®.

Symptom

Typing the URL http:\\\ccweb fails returns the error message: Windows cannot find '\\cc_web_server\ccweb\'. Check the spelling and try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the Start button and then clicking Search. Note: The same error can occur while trying to access the ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) with incorrect slashes: http:\\\ccrc.

Cause

Some versions of Internet Explorer do not automatically change the direction of the slashes.

Resolving the problem

Upgrade the version of Internet Explorer to one that automatically replaces slashes or replace the back slashes "\" with forward slashes "/" (http://cc_web_server/ccweb/) for the URL to work properly.
