Unable to perform rebase or check-in file in CCRC

 might occur when using an IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Remote client (CCRC) to perform a UCM rebase and why attempts to resolve the issue may fail.
 
Symptom

The following lists the various symptoms and errors that may be seen when attempting to resolve the issue.

  • An attempt to perform a UCM rebase operation in CCRC results in the following error:

    There are checked-out or hijacked elements in the view.
    You must exit the preview dialog and check in the elements 
    or undo the checkouts/hijacks before you start the rebase operation.

  • While trying to check-in one of the files the following error is reported:

    Problems performing ClearCase operation.

    Unable to checkin "C:ccweb\Viewer_Ver1\element.h"
    ccweb: Error: No branch of element is checked out to view "NT:C:\ccweb\View_Ver1\view.stg".
    ccweb: Error: Unable to find checked out version for "C\ccweb\View_Ver1\element.h".

  • If you try to undo the checkout result in the following error:

    Unable to undo checkout of "C:ccweb\Viewer_Ver1\element.h"
    Problems performing uncheckout.

    ccweb: Error: No branch of element is checked out to view "NT:C:\ccweb\View_Ver1\view.stg".
    ccweb: Error: Unable to find checked out version for "C\ccweb\View_Ver1\element.h".

Cause

The CCRC server and client are in disagreement about the state of the file in question which is known as a discordance state in CCRC.

Resolving the problem

Perform the Restore Resource in CCRC.
