Error: "java.io.IOException: HTTP request failed with status "500"

why attempts to upgrade IBM® Rational® ClearCase® to FLEXlm licensing and rolling back results in the inability to log into CCWeb or CCRC views on the Rational Web Platform (RWP) IHS server.

Symptom

While performing the Product Activation of Eclipse-based Rational Products per technote 1250404, and restoring to previous state may result in the following error accessing a web view (CCWeb or CCRC).

Cause

This error can occur if the C:\Program Files\Rational\Common directory permissions are changed or if the directory is moved. For example restoring the directory from a backup copy.

Resolving the problem

Part of the installation instructions contain the following instructions: ============================== BEFORE YOU BEGIN ============================== This upgrade process has not been fully tested by the Rational team so please be sure to backup the current files as outlined below before applying the new files.  When copying "back" (rolling back) to the C:\Program Files\Rational\Common - verify that the permissions\group access does not change.  When users can not "access" the C:\Program Files\Rational\Common this error may occur.  Fixing the permissions will correct the error. Ensure the permissions are set as follows: 1.
