CCRC install fails with error message JVM not found

why attempts to install the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Remote Client (CCRC) fails during the extraction portion of the install with Unable to load input file: C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\ClearCase\_jvm\jvm and provides instructions to resolve the problem.
 
Symptom

Attempts to install CCRC results in the following error:

During extraction:

Unable to load input file: C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\ClearCase\_jvm\jvm


After selecting OK:

Error occurred during the installation.

  • JVM not found


The extraction of the jvm file during install failed thus causing the install failure.
 
Cause

One known cause is that the setup.jar file was run as opposed to thesetup.exe file.
 
Resolving the problem

Remove the C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\CCRC directory.

Attempt the extraction again ensuring no files fail to load.

If successful. attempt the installation again.

If the install fails with the same error, attempt the workaround below.


WORKAROUND:

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\CCRC\_jvm

  2. Create a new text file named jvm

  3. Restart the install of CCRC

  4. During the install where CCRC failed previously, a warning message will appear stating everything in _jvm folder will be replaced. Select YES and continue the install.
The installation will proceed as normal.
